Archival
Propylon's experience in providing solutions in the legislative and regulatory domains coupled with EMC's unique Centera hardware makes this a trusted and robust proposition for your archiving requirements. It complies with laws, policies and international standards for trustworthy digital repositories, including the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) and the Federal Records Act, among others.
Our platform addresses the following challenges:
- Long-Term Preservation. Can your archive ensure content will be accessible 10 years from now? 100 years? Propylon's support for digital migrations and multiple storage formats keep your content current and accessible, while maintaining its original integrity.
- Chain of Custody. Can you be sure content came from the Producer you expect and that it hasn't been altered? How do you prevent sensitive holdings from falling into the wrong hands? Propylon's secure chain of custody model verifies provenance and manages the access restrictions of your holdings.
- Certification of Authenticity. Can your Consumers be sure that content in your archive is authentic? Propylon provides multiple methods of document authentication. This includes digital signatures and complex hash comparisons. The solution also interfaces seamlessly with payment portals for fee-based authentication by your Archivist.
- Quality Assurance. It allows archive administrators to establish custom submission agreements with Producers. The agreements are then used in automated Quality Assurance models. In addition, metadata validation ensures swift and comprehensive Search and Retrieval for Consumers.
- Ingest/Access Connectors. Propylon's Connectors provide multiple transfer methods for Producers and Consumers. In addition to custom made web pages, it supports automatic pushes from databases, servers and any other source with HTTP Post capability. It also supports event triggered and ad-hoc access to archive holdings.
- Industry Compliance. The solution is built on standards created by industry experts. It adheres to the OAIS model, TRAC and PAIMAS. DPP also draws upon several metadata models, including PREMIS, METS and MODS.
Propylon and EMC have worked together to deliver a solution that allows for compliant public access to authentic records that support greater accountability and transparency, as mandated by Open Government and E-democracy initiatives.
