Jr. Software Support Engineer - Bismark, ND.

Propylon is a leading global vendor of Legislative software. We work with Legislatures and Regulatory agencies in the US and Europe to solve their document management problems and use cutting edge technologies within our products to provide process efficiencies,  increased collaboration, simplification of work flows and transparency of information.

Propylon has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Application Software Support  Engineer to work with our client in supporting the live implementation of our products. This is a customer facing technical role and involves managing the server and client side implementation of our enterprise system, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and planning for maintenance updates. It also involves working with our clients in ensuring that the application is maintained to the highest level of quality.

This is a great opportunity for a computer science graduate to build on software development skills gained in a college environment and transfer these into a working environment.  The successful applicant will get on the job training from experienced developers and have an opportunity to learn new technologies.

This role is based in Bismarck, ND

Job Description:

  • Development of application updates and maintenace on the production and staging system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues
  • Development and implementation of fixes within agreed service levels
  • Implementation of standard operating procedures
  • Development of support knowledge base
  • Development of system enhancements


Position Requirements:

  • Linux/Unix and Window XP platform experience
  • Application Server/J2EE environment development
  • Database application development
  • Java and Python programming skills
  • Unix scripting skills
  • Good understanding of network protocols
  • Excellent analytical problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the following technologies is desirable:
  • Messaging technologies such as JMS
  • Apache Lucene
  • OpenOffice
  • MySQL
  • Django
