Propylon Announces Major Engagement with the State of Oregon

Propylon, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a major engagement with the State of Oregon to deploy the Legislative Workbench bill drafting module.

The engagement was announced at the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures in Nashville, Tennessee. It provides for the design, delivery and support of the Bill Drafting module of Legislative Workbench, to support bill drafting, tracking, and statute publication for the Oregon State Legislature. The new system will be live in February 2008.

Propylon will open an office in Salem in order to join forces with Oregon legislative staff. This collaboration will configure Legislative Workbench to meet Oregon’s unique business requirements.

Legislative Workbench will store legislative documents including bills and statutes in the ISO standard Open Document Format, enabling information sharing with other systems and jurisdictions. The system will run Sun Microsystems hardware and the Java System Application Server with an Oracle database.

Ann Boss, head of the Office of Legislative Counsel for the Oregon State Legislature, said, “We draft thousands of bills and amendments each session.
